Verdelet is the one hierarch whose duty allows him to speak directly with the goddess. Though he wields no military power, he is a powerful authority within the Union. Verdelet is a pious man who is always careful to say and do the correct thing, but his selfishness and sense of self-preservation come to the fore when the situation becomes dire.
