Belias is the first Esper you fight in Final Fantasy XII, however he still packs quite a punch. Belias hits with slow, but powerful physical attacks. However due to the fact he takes a long time to attack it often leaves Belias open to multiple attacks and gives you chance to get some serious damage in!
Belias has one ace up his sleave and that is his powerful Fire spell, Firaja. Firaja deals a lot of damage on all characters and inflicts the Oil status. So remember to stock up on Hi-Potions, and make sure you've got Shell and Protect cast on your front line attack force. Playing this one safe is a good idea so make sure you character Gambits to heal you with Cure/Cura when you get down to low health.
Quickenings won't be too powerful at this point in the game, so theres not real much point in using them to be honest with you. But if you have them at your disposal then I guess it's not a bad idea.

Shemhazai's special ability, Mana Spring means that once she's used it the element that she's weak against changes. Now this wouldn't be so bad, but if you hit Shemhazai with an element that she isn't weak against the damage done to her turns directly into HP! Which means you could leave yourself healing this Esper several times over. The best strategy is to not use elemental attacks, and use non-elemental weapons.
The only magicks I would recommend using are Green or Time Magicks, this way you can Haste on yourself to match Shemhazai's speed. Because Shemhazai constantly has Haste caste on herself a good idea would be to cast Dispel, that way her Haste status will disappear.
Setting up the gambits so your characters use Echo Herbs or Vox is a very good idea because when Shemhazai gets down to critical HP she will cast Silencega, which will inflict the Silence and Disease status on your party members. Overall this battle shouldn't be too tough as long as you keep healing and hitting Shemhazai with a few Mist Quickenings!

Hashmal begins the battle shielded by protective magicks, so before you do anything make sure you cast Dispel on him. After doing so ready your party for the battle by casting the usual green magicks on yourself, Haste, Protect and Float most importantly. Float will nullify all of Hashmal's big bad attacks, leaving him pretty much open to a beating, all your have to worry about is your status effects.
Hashmal will continue to shield himself with protective magicks through out the battle, so keep dispelling but he will also attack you with Slow and Disease, so have your Gambits set up to recast Haste and Cleanse/Vaccine if required.
If your characters have Float cast on them they won't be effected by his Quakeja spell, but if they don't make sure you keep your HP high, once Hashmal's health is in critical he will cast a magickal shield that will protect him for a brief period of time. During this time I reccommend you heal and just take his attacks as they come. And with that this battle should be said and done without a problem!

Now the battle with Famfrit isn't as straight forward as the previous Espers, because isn't of just duking it out with Famfrit, Dr. Cid is thrown in there too! Nothing to worry about though, just keep hacking away until he summons Famfrit, then the real battle begins.
Like usual once Famfrit appears cast Dispel on him, then beef yourself up with a Haste, Protect and Shell combination. Whilst Famfrit is on the field Dr. Cid can't be damaged, so focus everything you has on Famfrit, Famfrit's weakness is fire so your best bet would be to cast the Oil status on him then keep on pounding him Firaga!
Occasionally Famfrit will blast a powerful attack at you that will inflicted the status disalignment Silence on you, best thing to do when this happens is to use Echo Herbs/Vox, then heal your characters with Curaga/Hi-Potion. If needed attack Famfrit with a Mist Quickening or two, but he shouldn't be too hard to take down.
Once you've defeated Famfrit concentrate everything you have on Dr. Cid, if all your characters are alive then that should be a doddle, if not bring them back to life with a Phoenix Down and keep on attacking!

Mateus will begin the battle by instantly casting Reflect on himeself and spawning six Ice Azers to aid him. Because Mateus casts Reflect on himself it makes magicks a no go during this battle, however casting Thunder/Thundara on the Ice Azers is a quick and efficent way to get rid of them.
Another way to defeat Ice Azers, or at least deal some serious damage to them is to use a Mist Quicekning, because they are pretty powerful even if they are just minions!
Once you've got rid of the Ice Azers it's time to start the real fight - Mateus casts Blizzaja which is a killer spell that could leave your characters in quite a pickle so I suggest equipping all your Ice resistant armours that you've got!
Due to the Ice Azers your MP will be down pretty low, so I suggest using Ranged Weapons to win this fight, that way you can run at a fair distance away from Mateus and restore MP at the same time! This is a vital technique because it will prevent you having to use Ethers as often as you usually would. Keeping away from Mateus also means that some characters could be out of range of Mateus' Blizzaja attack - this means that less party members will be on critical HP through out the battle!
Remember to use Quickenings as frequently as possible and don't forget the Shell/Protect technique that I mentioned earlier.
