Final Fantasy XIII On PC?

Hey everyone,
Apparently Yoshinori Kitase, Final Fantasy XIII’s producer made an announcement at a recent Square Enix press conference regarding the platform availability of Final Fantasy XIII. According to Portalit News Kitase said that there will be three version of the game, a PlayStation 3 version, a Xbox 360 version and last but not least; a PC version. This is definitely a possibility, especially considering that Square Enix’s Crystal Tools engine is a multi-platform engine.
The content will be the same on all platforms, said Kitase.
Despite Sony’s bid for exclusive content, it seems as if Kitase is adamant that Final Fantasy XIII will be the same across the board. Bad news for Sony fans, but at least they still have Final Fantasy Versus XIII as an exclusive title.
However, we have yet to determine how many discs will be required for the 360 version. We’ll have to consider the differences between formats. Currently the game is being built on PC, where it’s actually functional. We’re still focusing on making it work on PS3, so it’s difficult to know how long the process of taking it to 360 will take.
Kitase also commented on the amount of disks that the 360 version will need, saying that he was unsure. Though if the game is anywhere near the size of Metal Gear Solid 4, then we could be looking at anything from up to 6 to 7 dual layered DVD’s.
Now that we’re developing on a PC base, the pace is going a bit faster,” Kitase said. “We haven’t introduced new footage of the game, but we should be able to show something new in the near future.
Furthermore, Kitase continued to say that Final Fantasy XIII’s main development has been shifted to PC; which has apparently speeded up the development process. This is good news for Xbox 360 owners, because considering what the 360 is; porting the game from the PC to Xbox 360 won’t take much effort at all. I’m not entirely sure how credible our source is, considering Final Fantasy hasn’t been on PC since Final Fantasy VIII - either way, if it speeds up the development process then I’m all for it.
