Last Order: Final Fantasy VII is an Original Video Animation that is set before the events of Final Fantasy VII. The story begins with a group of SOLDIERS been assigned to check out the Mako Reactor at Nibelheim due to reporting’s of strange monsters that had supposedly coming from the Reactor.
Two First Class SOLDIERS, Sephiroth and Zack were assigned to this mission, as well as a group of Shinra guards. Among the guards assigned to the mission was the protagonist of Final Fantasy VII, Cloud Strife. Upon arriving in Nibelheim, the group was greeted by Tifa, who was to be their tour guide to help them through the mountains – Tifa and Cloud knew one another from way back, back when Cloud lived in Nibelheim, however at first Cloud hides his face from her, due to been ashamed of never making the First Class rank that he’d originally aspired to reach.
When Sephiroth and Zack eventually reach the Mako Reactor, they discover that the “monsters” were actually humans that had been exposed to concentrated doses of Mako energy, as part of Professor Hojo’s experiments. Whilst inside the Mako Reactor, Sephiroth notices the word’s “JENOVA” written a vault door – From birth Sephiroth had been told that the name of his mother was JENOVA, and suspecting that he had something to do with these strange experiments Sephiroth locked himself in the Old Shinra Mansion and discovered a horrifying truth. It’s from here that the story of Last Order: Final Fantasy VII unravels, and it’s a pretty good storyline at that – it explains Sephiroth’s reasons for becoming what he is in Final Fantasy VII, along with giving a little more of an insight of just who Zack Fair is, as you didn’t really learn much about this character in the original PlayStation game.
Last Order: Final Fantasy VII’s definitely worth watching if you’re a fan of Final Fantasy VII, and with decent voice acting and some well drawn animations, this one can’t go a miss!
